Welcome to the Borough of Interlaken Reassessment Dashboard
Assessment postcards were mailed on November 15th, 2023, detailing the new assessment for 2024. We wanted to take this opportunity to provide some background on what is occurring with property assessments in the Borough of Interlaken and how it has impacted the tax rate.
For the tax year 2024, the aggregate net value of the Borough will be 13.77% higher than it was in 2023. This does not mean your taxes will go up 13.77%. It means that the overall value of properties in town has increased. The valuation of all the properties within the Borough and the tax rate are proportional. The tax rate decreased by 4.10%, from $0.903 to $0.866. Additionally, the Borough's rate dropped by 10.48%, from $0.477 to $0.427. However, the school district rate increased by 14.07%, from $0.199 to $0.227.
The assessment function serves as the distribution mechanism of the property tax levy, which is a combination of municipal, library, school, open space, and County taxes. Since taxes are intended to be split up amongst the property owners based on the market value of the properties, it is critical that the assessment process is uniform, accurate, fair, and transparent.

Please Note: The time to appeal property assessments was from November 15, 2023, to January 15, 2024. For properties valued over $1 million, the appeal deadline is April 1, 2024. Unfortunately, no property appeals may occur after April 1, 2024.
